Jason Likens, MD

Jason W. Likens lives in Washington, PA and received his medical degree from West Virginia University, School of Medicine in May of 2013. His academic honors include Mountain Honorary based upon his nomination by fellow members of the club for outstanding service and commitment to WVU, as well as Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, and Honors in Health Care Ethics while attending WVU. He was also chosen as the Vicki V. Douglas award recipient in May 2013 for demonstrating exemplary compassion for dying patients and outstanding knowledge and skills in palliative care.
As a medical student, Jason has had educational experiences and worked at Mountaineer Family Care, a rural Family Medicine clinic in Thornton, WV. Currently, Jason is the Head of the medical student research group of WVU, School of Medicine. Jason also coordinates research with Dr. Mascia (previous director of the Surgical Care Unit at WVU, School of Medicine) and other medical students, to assess impact of time to treatment and co-morbidities in critically ill patients. Jason also worked as a counselor volunteer at the Rape and Domestic Violence Center in Morgantown, West Virginia where he provided counseling, transportation of clients to shelter, and coordination of services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
He is a member of the American Medical Association and West Virginia State Medical Association. In his free time, Jason enjoys being an outdoorsman, volunteering, carpentry, entrepreneurship, running, and golfing.
