Introducing Dr. Baber Ghauri of Veritas Health Care

Dr. Ghauri serves as Chief Medical Information Officer for St. Mary Medical Center where he is an accountable leader for design and implementation of clinical processes and workflows with special oversight over patient safety and quality initiatives. In addition, he serves as a Physician Advisor, is on the HealthShare Exchange of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Inc. Clinical Advisory Committee, and the Spok Inc. (formerly Amcom Software) Physician Advisory Board. After graduating from Philadelphia University with a Major in Biochemistry (Pre-med) and Concentration in Computer Science, Baber earned his Doctor of Medicine from Drexel University College of Medicine and Master’s in Business Administration from Drexel University LeBow College of Business.

Dr. Ghauri’s practice of medicine has been the basis of a unique livelihood in healthcare, parlaying diverse experiences and training in hospital medicine, medical informatics, medical education (including Simulation Medicine), and patient safety/quality into multiple roles in transformative leadership. Baber’s collaborative and energetic approach to formulating solutions fuels his unwavering entrepreneurial spirit and is well-supported by his aptitude for using technology to improve outcomes.

From a very early age and in virtually every role, Baber has excelled as both a designated and situational leader and finds great satisfaction in serving all constituents of his community. Adapting to different styles of leadership and the challenge of recognizing management nuances will always remain intriguing to him. He continues to find administration of physicians fascinating and views all such opportunities as a chance to test his collaborative management approach. Though sometimes necessary, he is not averse to employ other styles of management with this often challenging group.

Dr. Ghauri is first and foremost an educator. The word Doctor means “to teach” and he takes equal pride in both teaching and learning. He has created countless highly-acclaimed lecture series and events throughout his career. His work has also included much in the way of research, software applications development and CME program development.

Dr. Ghauri’s serves on the Alumni Association Board of Directors at Drexel University College of Medicine and Community Options, Enterprises Inc. He also volunteers for Zubaida Foundation. Some of his numerous certifications include Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine (2014), Diplomate of the American Board of Preventive Medicine: Clinical Informatics (2015), and Diplomate of the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine (2015). His Professional Memberships include Society of Hospital Medicine, American College of Physicians, ACP Chapter-Council of Young Physicians, Society of Simulation in Healthcare, American Medical Informatics Association, Association of Medical Directors in Information Systems Institute for Healthcare Improvement, Pennsylvania Medical Society, Bucks County Medical Society, IHI Patient Safety Executives – founder, Medical Simulation User Group – founder, AMIA Professionals in Healthcare IT World, High Reliability Management, and Medical Devices Group.
