Dr. Stewart, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has been practicing a wide range of medicine in diverse settings for over 30 years. In 1974 Dr. Stewart was an honors graduate in internal medicine, pediatrics and pharmacology at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. He is a former member of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals Blue Ribbon Commission on Medicaid Reform. In recent years Dr. Stewart served as associate professor at Tulane University Medical Center and also as clinical associate professor at University of Texas Health Science Center and Medical School in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Luther is a member of several professional organizations, which include the American Board of Anesthesiology, the National Medical Association, former vice president of the Louisiana State Medical Association, and East Baton Rouge Parish Medical Association. Also active in community and civic leadership, Dr. Stewart is a member of Kiwanis International and Southern University Mentor Program. He has been a keynote speaker, guest lecturer and motivational speaker for several organizations, and is a frequent radio talk show guest discussing medicine and history. Dr. Stewart is conversant in English, Spanish and German and is also a licensed pilot. His other hobbies include history and travel.
