Raul Vasquez Garagatti, MD

Currently Dr. Vasquez-Garagatti serves in the Hospitalist Program at Saint Joseph’s in London, Kentucky where he takes on the duties of a patient’s primary care physician while the patient is in the hospital ward or ICU. His medical education includes Universidad San Martin de Porres, Medical School Lima, Peru, a Fellowship in Infectious Diseases with the University of Louisville in Kentucky and an Internal Medicine Residency with Trihealth Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Dr. Vasquez-Garagatti has demonstrated his Medical leadership through a variety of quality projects such as the development of early goal-directed Therapy for Severe Sepsis and Septic Shock protocols, an Antimicrobial Utilization initiative: Optimizing the use of antimicrobial agents at Saint Joseph London, by serving as Chief of Infection Control there, and by providing Infectious Diseases consultations.
His abstracts and articles include co-authoring Real-Time PCR Detection of Mycoplasma pneumonia, Legionella spp. and Chlamydia pneumoniae in Oropharyngeal Swabs and Broncho-aveolar Lavage (BAL) Specimens Using the BD Max Instrument, Risk factor associated with positive DNA probe for chlamydia and gonorrhea in an Emergency Department, and Impact of an MRSA screening and Decolonization Program in ESRD Patient Undergoing Hemodialysis MRSA.
He is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and serves as the Infectious Diseases Chairman at Saint Joseph London where he is the Infectious Diseases Chief Fellow.
Prior to living in the U.S. Dr. Vasquez-Garagatti served as primary care physician and Sport Medicine Fellow in Club Regatas, the most prestigious sport club in Lima, Peru and was also a voluntary Primary Care Provider for a low-income population in a Lima.
